If you are a woman and a permanent resident of India and have an SHG (Self-Help Group), you have a great opportunity to change your life. The government of India launched a scheme named Lakhpati Didi Yojana. The name of the scheme is self-explanatory, as you see, lakhpati means who earns one lakh, and didi means sister. The government wants to help the women of every household who are a part of the SHG (Self-Help Group) by empowering them.

Namo Drone Didi yojana, women livelihood scheme India, lakhpati didi eligibility, lakhpati didi documents, lakhpati didi skill training

This is not a scheme where you receive money directly in your bank account. The government gives you proper training to help you to produce or make products on your own.

Like you start a business on a small scale, produce or make something, and sell it to the market. The government gives you affordable loans; you have to utilise them, and when you make enough, then you will be called Lakhpati didi.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Apply for Lakhpati Didi Yojana 2026

1. Join SHG if you are not a member

If you are not a member of any SHG, contact your Gram Panchayat office or the nearest woman who is already a member of an active SHG. Or you can also approach your BDO office and ask to be connected to DAY-NRLM staff. They will guide you on how to connect with a nearby SHG or help you form a new one with 10 to 20 women.

2 . Make sure  your SHG is affiliated with DAY-NRLM

Your SHG needs to be officially registered and affiliated under the State Rural Livelihood Mission. The Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) staff or a Bank Mitra will help your group complete this process. Without this affiliation, you cannot access scheme benefits.

3. Make sure you or your team conduct meetings and save consistently

Active SHGs maintain weekly or monthly meetings, collect savings from all members, and do internal leadership. If you and your group maintain a good track record and your team member is a good paymaster, the chance of approval for the scheme is higher.

4. Express your livelihood interest

Tell your group leader and the SRLM coordinator that you want to pursue a livelihood. Do you want training in dairy farming? Tailoring? Handicrafts? Drone operation? Being in a specific category can help the coordinator enrol you in the right training batch.

5. Attend a free skill training programme

Once your SHG is selected for a training batch, please attend all sessions seriously. The training is totally free, keep it in mind, and the skills you gain there are the foundation of your income

6. Apply for bank linkage and micro-credit

When your group has a solid record of savings and repayments, apply through the SHG to the linked bank for a loan to fund your livelihood activity. The SRLM coordinator and bank branch manager will guide the process.

7. Start your livelihood, grow and earn
Use the loan and the training to run your livelihood activity. Sell it on the local market. As your income grows and crosses ₹1 lakh per year, you will be recognised and certified as a Lakhpati Didi.
